If you asked the majority of people why they haven't bothered to learn CPR the most common response is "I will just call 9-1-1."
In order to function, the brain, heart and lungs must have a constant supply of oxygen or they will stop working working -permanently,
Imagine if you were to show up to work tomorrow and your boss says it is great to see you, here is a bunch of work I need you to do, by the way you are no longer getting paid. What would you do? Chances are you would quit. Your brain, heart and lungs feel the same way. If you do not feed them a constant supply of oxygen they will quit-meaning they will die.
Calling 9-1-1 is a great first step. However, according to the national institute of health the average response time for EMS is 7-10 minutes. In rural areas it is greater than 14 minutes, with some areas waiting a half hour. With employee shortages these numbers are increasing.
The fact is if CPR is not initiated prior to 9-1-1 arriving the chances of surviving are dire at best.
It would be heartbreaking to stand by watching someone you love die because you didn't bother to learn CPR.
Don't let that moment happen to you. Learn CPR for those you love.
